What Is

The GLOBE

Imagine that moments after our global countdown counter reaches 12:00 am on September 30th you see on our website’s map a small flash of light coming out of Sydney, Australia from where the very first Recovery Firework is launched. The firework rises up into the atmosphere and explodes in a glorious burst of colorful magnificence. Simultaneously as this virtual firework launches, the outline of Australia lights up in purple (symbolic of our recovery movement). A moment or two later you see another Recovery Firework launched and another…

Within a short time, dozens, then hundreds, and thousands of Recovery Fireworks are fired into the atmosphere and their colorful bursts illuminate the sky, creating a patchwork of interconnectedness around the world as more and more outlines of countries light up in purple.

The greater the number of Recovery Fireworks are launched the more purple our map becomes …

International Recovery Day is a free online event to be globally launched on September 30th.

Recovery has given me an amazing life! I have great peace, joy, friends, fun, and purpose. I have tools and support to get through life’s challenges. There are many recovery paths and help for those with different challenges. I’ve worked hard and found a way that works for me, and so have many others. I encourage everyone to take great care of themselves and help others as they can. Let the love flow to you, and through you! <3 <3 <3

Recovery is possible. Not just for the person everyone expects to make it, but for the one who burned every bridge, lost everything, relapsed again, and feels too far gone. Addiction will tell you that you’re hopeless. Recovery tells you to try one more day. I’ve learned healing isn’t about becoming perfect overnight. It’s about waking up and choosing to fight even when it’s hard. It’s learning how to live honest, make amends, feel emotions again, and build a life you don’t have to escape from. To anybody struggling right now: your story is not over. God still changes lives. Families can heal. Minds can heal. Hearts can heal. One day at a time still works. Keep going.

Stay Sober ODAT. Life is difficult (1st line of the Road Less Traveled) but together we can live a beautiful life without returning to drugs or alcohol by incorporating the principles of the 12 Step programs.

Do it while you still can! Don’t do what I did. My addiction grew with each loss . Starting 10 years ago me and my husband lost all 6 of our parents (I had 2 Bonus Parents.) After all things were settled we said it was OUR year. We both got cancer. He had surgery and was deemed cancer free. I opted for 3 chemos and 35 radiation treatment directly Into my throat. I lost my hearing and my tastebuds were gone got 5 years. But I kept my larynx and my life. Then my husband’s cancer metastasized to his brain and died a painful death. Then I lost my job of 30 years and both dogs. Then I almost lost my life due to sorrow and cheap wine. God had to take me to Deaths Door to get my attention. And, thankfully, He did! DONT DO WHAT I DID!!!
